Meet our Pastor, Elders & Leadership Ministry Team

Pastor Ron & Gwen Finch

Pastor Ron Finch and his wife, Gwen, have been happily married for 64 years and have been serving their Lord in ministry for 50 of those years.  Ron was raised in Oroville and graduated from Oroville High School in the great year of 1957.  His wife, Gwen, was born in Live Oak, but raised in Gridley and is a graduate of Gridley High School (1960). They have two wonderful children, four super grandchildren, and three wonderful great grandchildren.  The goal of their marriage is that Christ would be exalted and they would be a living example of Christ's relationship to His church and the believer's relationships to Him.

Pastor Ron graduated from Western Baptist College (B.S.), Denver Seminary (M.Div), and has studied Doctorate of Ministry courses at Dallas Seminary.  God, in His grace, has used Pastor Ron and Gwen to start three new churches and rebuild two struggling churches over their 50+ years of pastoral ministry.

After 27 years of joyful ministry in Indio, Ca., God brought them back to Oroville in retirement, but little did they know that God brought them back to Oroville to minister at Grace Chapel Oroville.

Along with the joys of pastoral ministry God has allowed them to travel extensively around the world and be involved in ministry to Pastors in many different countries: Philippines, Ecuador, France, and India, to name a few. They are blessed and excited to see what God in His sovereignty will accomplish in Oroville through Grace Chapel.

Doug & Amanda Sweet

Doug is an Elder at Grace Chapel Oroville.  Doug and Amanda are followers of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Doug received Christ at the age of 15 and Amanda at the age of 5.  They have been married for 32 years and have two daughters.  They have served in ministry all of their married life.

They have been a key part of Grace Chapel since its inception as a small home Bible study. They appreciate Grace Chapel’s Bible-based teaching.  Not only does Doug serve as one of our Pastor/Elders, he also runs the sound board and assists with the Men’s Ministry. Amanda serves as a Sunday School teacher and leads our Children’s Ministry.

Robert & Sabrina Cumbuss

Elder Robert Cumbuss and his wife Sabrina Cumbuss reside in Oroville, California and have been building a life together for the past 17 years, married for 12 of those years. Robert was raised in Sacramento and Oroville, California, and Sabrina was raised in San Jose and later Oroville, California. Together, they are blessed with five children, two of whom are now grown adults (twins), while the rest are still at home.

Robert and Sabrina come from similar backgrounds and are deeply grateful for the Grace that God has shown in their lives. They believe wholeheartedly in the Truth of the Gospel – that we are saved by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone. Their desire is simply to live faithfully according to God’s Word, serve their church family well, and encourage others to grow in their walk with the Lord.

As Robert steps into the role of Elder at Grace Chapel Oroville, both he and Sabrina approach the calling with humility, recognizing it is a responsibility to serve rather than a title to carry. Their heart is to support the church, strengthen those in Faith, and point others to the truth and hope found in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Don & Alison Phillips

Elder Don and Alison Phillips met in college and were married shortly after graduating in 1982.  They have been active in various churches in Arizona and California during their marriage. Don was a full-time youth pastor for a decade and was a teacher and administrator in public and private schools at every level from elementary through middle and high school to a university. Alison has served as a Sunday School and Children's Church teacher as well as adult choir director. She also worked as a private school teacher.  Most recently, Don was a founder of STREAM Charter School and Alison was a teacher at Oroville Christian School. Both are now retired from outside employment and focused on serving at Grace Chapel Oroville - Don as an elder and Alison as Financial Secretary and a Children's Church teacher. They have two children and a granddog.
